Forward Collision mitigating braking system

Forward Collision is a driver assist feature found in several Honda models like the Honda Civic and Honda Accord that sends an alert to the driver if the car senses an upcoming collision. As part of the Honda Sensing safety suite, Forward Collision Warning is designed to keep Lindenhurst drivers safe. Learn more about what this system can do for you with The New Babylon Honda then visit us to test it out in a new Honda model.

How Does FCW Work?

The Forward Collision Warning, or FCW, system scans the road ahead of you and detects a possible collision with a slower moving or stopped vehicle. Once the sensors located at the front of your car detect an obstacle, this system them will alert you through multiple warnings in the form of:

  • Sounds
  • Vibrations
  • Quick brake pulsing
  • Visuals
  • Mixture of signals

Having these warnings means possibly saving yourself, and your vehicle, from an accident. And that means you don’t have to bring your vehicle in for an emergency service appointment.

Main Features

Rear crashes are some of the most common types of crashes. With a standard feature like the FCW system, these can be reduced. Some important main features of the Forward Collision Warning system to be aware of include:

  • Scanners that can read up to 500 feet ahead, scanning over 20 times per second
  • Detection of vehicles, bicycles, and motorbikes
  • Works well in all weather conditions, and just as effectively at night
  • Allows for up to 5 seconds of reaction time
